Who the Hell Do You Think I Am?
You tell me.

Hello and welcome! My name is …

Well, it’s not really important what my name is. But I will tell you some things about myself to prove that I really am a doctor. Y’know, because if it's on the internet it must be true, right?

I am originally from New York and have done the typical N.Y. circuit – Brooklyn, Long Island, Brooklyn again, and finally Manhattan. I planned on spending the rest of my life there until I saw the light and relocated somewhere in the West by way of the Midwest (a place in which I do not have the fortitude to live – bugs, anyone?).

I have been in practice for over two decades, the last three years feeling like the previous seventeen. In these last three years I turned back to writing (and baking, and eating, among other things) to relieve some stress. And I say "turned back" because that was what I originally wanted to do for a living until a former friend got in the way and unintentionally got me into medical school, irreparably derailing the planned trajectory of my life.

Despite medicine being a default career choice, it has been a fun ride. And I thought it would be fun to share some of these pre and post MD stories with you all.

So what is this blog about ?

The stories here range from poignant to gross, funny to tragic, topical to what-was-the-point-of-that? The topics are juvenile to mature, and none of them are meant to teach a lesson or get a point across, but all of them are written from an avant-garde mentality and in an ADHD style.

And I sincerely hope you enjoy them.

Before I go...

..here are some facts that may (or may not) influence your decision to hate me.

1. I really am a doctor, but – not being your doctor – there will be no medical advice given here.

2. I am not white. I am not black. I am somewhere in-between.

3. I have served in the military.

4. I have served in my church.

5. I have served in a soup kitchen.

6. I carried the American flag in a gay pride parade. I am not gay.

7. I am originally from New York. Yes, I am a Yankee fan. Screw you.

8. I love all types of music and basically every movie out there. I have no taste.

9. I am pro- and anti- whatever the topic of the day is. Meaning, my point of view is a direct reflection of whatever your point of view is. So let’s leave our points of view out of this space.

But, I welcome any and all comments (be forewarned that some comments may be fodder for future posts). And if you are so inclined, feel free to subscribe.

Respectfully and with spiritual flaccidity,

Dr. Nobody
